Not  exactly: The spleen will not regenerate following its removal. However, if the spleen is shattered, sometimes a small piece may remain in the abdominal cavity and develop a new blood supply. Also, some people are born with accessory spleens that can become more functional after splenectomy.

CT Emergency room: Generally, a ruptured spleen is from a significant injury to the left upper part of the abdomen or the ribcage just above that (eg. Car crash) mononucleosis or other problem enlarging the spleen can make splenic rupture more likely.  Symptoms can include pain in the left upper abdomen, left side of chest, or even referred left shoulder pain.  Diagnosis is usually a ct scan generally in er setting.

You could die: Allthough you don't have to have a spleen to live, it serves rather important functions regarding the red cells and immune functions. Because large amount of blood goes through this organ, a rupture could potentially be fatal. Go to hospital: You should go to the hospital immediately. The spleen is very vascular and if it ruptures, the abdominal cavity can fill with blood very quickly leading to a rapid drop in blood pressure, loss of consciousness, and possibly death.  After being evaluated by the emergency physician and possibly having surgery, a few vaccines may be necessary to prevent some infections.

Depends on severity: The spleen is a very vascular organ and, though well protected by the rib cage, is susceptible to blunt trauma.  Minor injuries may usually be managed by "watchful waiting", but rupture can lead to life-threatening bleeding. In the past, this meant splenectomy. Nowadays, we can often stop the bleeding nonsurgically by internally closing off the bleeding vessels via interventional radiology.
