Breastfeeding: Most mothers can both breast feed and pump to store extra milk. Your milk basically comes in on supply and demand so if you pump in addition to nursing your body should produce more. I have many mothers who do some additional pumping so they can store breast milk for a time when they cannot be available to nurse. Good luck.

Increased lacation: You can increase your milk supply by nursing or pumping more frequently, staying well hydrated and rested, and by supplementing your diet with the herb fenugreek. Sometimes, doctors will prescribe Reglan, (metoclopramide) which in some people will stimulate or enhance lactation.  Review the possible side effects of this drug first to make sure the benefit is worth the risk.

Sure!: You may not be able to restore quite full mild production, but start putting baby to breast every feeding (or as many as you like) then supplement with a bottle afterwards.  The natural stimulus to the breast with the baby suckling is better to get milk flowing than the pump.  See a lactation consultant asap! Don't be discouraged! twice daily feeds  will deliver important antibody to protect!

Safe to pump: There are no inherent safety risks from pumping over breast feeding, but prolonged changes to bottle feeds over nursing can interfere with lactation and infant's interest in restarting on a natural nipple rather than artificial one.

can i get an opinion on the safety of massage while breastfeeding? is there a need to pump and dump after the massage?

Heavens, NO!: Massage is a fantastic way to relieve stress of being a parent to a newborn. There is NOTHING a massage therapist will use topically that will or is harmful to your infant. You do not need to pump and dump - what a waste of that precious milk that would be. Enjoy your massage! There is evidence that massage improves milk production and flow, so go for it! (PS: I'm jealous!)

Random?: If this was a 1 time random use of THC, continue to breast feed. If you are smoking daily consider another form of feeding. Keep your baby away from even the smoke. All the best.

Have someone help: In the beginning of a switch, if baby can smell you she is unlikely to take a bottle. Have dad or a friend offer the bottle & leave the area. She may fuss from separation anxiety, but if she is hungry, she should tale a bottle from them. After a while she should be willing to take one from you.

i have a 7wk old & am breastfeeding. my hubby has been giving 1+ pumped bottle/day for a month. can i give expressed milk sometimes w/o confusing him?

Yes, but...: Baby might not be confused, but he also might not take it. Speaking from personal experience, my daughter wouldn't take a bottle from me at that age - she knew i had the fresh stuff & insisted on nursing, but would take a bottle from anyone else.The best book out there for breastfeeding advice is "so that's what they're for: breastfeeding basics" by janet todaro. i'm strictly breastfeeding but since i'm not working a lot i stop pumping now i am working but can't pump enough milk what do i do? what kind formula?

Formula: Formulas mimic breast milk in all categories .they have similar amount of nutrients and minerals,
so choose one with 20 calories per once with added essential   lipid acids that help develop babies brain.
breast milk still better.
