for many years i had taking lisinopril 40 mg last year dr. added 40 mg diovan (valsartan) now dr. say" stop cold turkey" lisinopril and take 80mg of diovan (valsartan) no feeling too good have headaches and dizzy thanks?

Check BP: I suggest checking your blood pressure as symptoms may be due to high BP. Lisinopril 40 mg is 1/2 max dose and Diovan (valsartan) 80 mg is 1/4 max dose. If BP not controlled on lisinopril 40 mg daily, options include increasing dose to 40 mg 2 times a day or adding a diuretic (water pill). Need to consult with your MD.

Lisinopril: In general you don't need to wean off lisinopril, but you should ask your doctor.

is it important to wean off metoprolol prior or while taking lisinopril?  was switched because of the fatigue. was told to dc met,start lisinopril.

It depends on your: prior dose of metoprolol. if you were raking 100 mg a day or more, you should be weaned off the metprolol so your heart rate does not speed up when you stop.

im taking lisinopril 20mg and metropolol tartane 25mg twice a day and i was also taking clonodine .1 mg twice a day . i stop taking the clonodine about a week ago. i want to stop taking all of it asap. how can i wean off of these meds?

: We cannot give you a responsible advice because you have been taking a strong antihypertensive regimen and it is very dangerous to stop all medications without appropriate monitoring.

Don't do it: These meds, especially the oxycodone must be gradually tapered after 2 years of chronic use. Do not stop them abruptly.

Wean off: If you have been using daily, then it is safer to wean off slowly. If you only smoked once weekly, then you can stop it cold turkey as the withdrawal symptoms  mainly occur during the first week that you are going off the chemicals.

Wean: My opinion only....best to wean from beta blockers...(particularly true if ANY coronary disease)

Coffee: You are probably addicted to the caffeine. Try a cup of coffee instead of the excedrin.  Feel better.

Good question: Because all ppi's such as nexium, (esomeprazole) is approved for short term use only.  Long term use is associated with bad things like adeno carcinoma of esophagus.  Why are you taking it in the first place?  Did your GI specialist tell you the reason for your symptoms?  All ppi's have the same mechanism of action, so you can try h2 blockers like zantac or antacids like maalox.

i'm on 16mg of suboxone a day  how can i wean my self of and sometime soon quit cold turkey also how can i wean myself from smoking?

Don't : Don't try to wean yourself off of anyhing on your own. If you want to wean yourself off of Suboxone or any medication do it under the supervision of your physician. You can go through withdrawals if you do it on your own. Smoking ypu can discuss with your physician as well as there are many options including cutting down by number of cigerettes daily or the patch or gum. Speak with your physician.
