Package insert: If you are otherwise feeling fine, the early dose should not cause problems. Please see the package insert.

can i give my son a dose of liquid mucinex (guaifenesin) and a packet of mucinex (guaifenesin) mini melts, or are they basically the same thing?

Same thing: Don't double up on any medicine, as an overdose can cause potentially serious problems.

is it okay to take lorazepam 0.5 with mucinex (guaifenesin) cold & sinus/flu liquid?

Accepted Answer

OK: Mucinex cold and flu does not have any other sedating ingredients - you should be good.  Try not to combine benzodiazepines with sedating meds such as benadryl (diphenhydramine) or nyquil.

: Yes, they can be taken together without harm, interference, or increased side effects.

dr said get regular dayquil or mucinex for my 10 1/2 year old. he is 5 foot 6 and 136 pounds is it safe to give him one that the active ingredients in each 20 ml are: dextromethorphan 20mg and guaifenesin 400mg? if it is ok is 20ml the right dose?

: In children under 12, adult medications should be used with caution. If your son is experiencing severe cough, start the medication at 15ml and watch carefully for side effects. Medications should not be used for more than 3-5 days. Make sure he is drinking lots of fluids to help thin the mucus, and give him additional electrolytes such as gatorade daily.

No: Dextromethorphan is in the Codeine family, but unlike Codeine or hydrocodone (Vicodin) it isn't an active opioid and therefore available OTC without prescription and unregulated by DEA as a controlled substance (unclassed).  Cough medicine with Codeine would require a prescription because of abuse potential.

why do i get a headache when i take mucinex d? could i be allergic or is it a side effect?

: A person is considered "intolerant" of a medication that causes such side effects, not allergic. Here the decongestant added to the Mucinex may be the culprit. Decongestants can elevate heart rate and blood pressure along with other symptoms. The general rule is if it hurts when you do that----don't do that.

No: Zyrtec and Musinex are not addictive and one does not normally become dependent on them But if allergy symptoms persist then sometime you need to take the meds for longer periods

Mucinex (guaifenesin) D: Hello, Mucinex (guaifenesin) d is a mucolytic decongestant combination. Taking these medications at the recommended doses will not typically induce a euphoric sensation.

will mucinex (guaifenesin) work to get rid of sinusitis?

Accepted Answer

Not for infection.: Sinusitis is usually a bacterial infection, and while Mucinex (guaifenesin) may help the symptoms of such it wouldn't eradicate this on its own.  If you just have allergies with congestion, Mucinex (guaifenesin) may be enough.
