Accepted Answer

Yes : Having a regular period indicates you are ovulating, even if you spot before your period. It does not mean you can't get pregnant. I usually associate premenstrual spotting with low estrogen levels, which can be common as we age or in thin females.

No period: If you get pregnant anytime  you cannot have  a period. Some women have breakthrough bleeding when pregnant that can be confused for a period. Good wishes.

Accepted Answer

Typical with Plan B: Plan b essentially disrupts the normal menstrual cycle by blocking or delaying ovulation. That it is how it works and why it is so different than a medical abortion. Irregular bleeding after taking Plan B is not rare. Always check a pregnancy test after using Plan B and see a doctor to start a better form of birth control.

: Ovulation can occur outside of the typical time. If you had a full regular period, you are most probably not pregnant. To avoid stress and anxiety about this in the future, use regular contraceptives. Oral hormonal contraception is just one option. There are shots that last 3 months, implants that last 3-5 years and IUD's that can last 3, 5 or 10 years. Talk to your Dr.

: No. It's almost an urban myth that exposure to pre-ejaculate fluid can result in conception. This is very rare and only with penile penetration. Don't worry. However, you need to get onto proper contraception; this event was risk free, but obviously you are close to having vaginal sex. I'm aware of cultural limitations in your country, but try to arrange it. At least have condoms handy. Good luck.

Unlikely: Some women have reported to me that they had a 'period' even though they were pregnant.  Physiologically, it wouldn't make sense for you to have a period if you're pregnant. If you're at all worried, just take a home pregnancy test.  They are fast and accurate and then you won't have to worry, you'll know for certain. Good luck!

Possible pregnancy: If you had a period which was "normal " in terms of when it occurred, and the length (just minor spotting or a short one day flow may not be a real "period") pregnancy occurring at the time of ovulation will prevent a "real" period, but implantation bleeding may 
present as a "period" and be coexistent with early pregnancy. Get a serum HCG test to be sure.

Probably not, but...: A woman cannot get her normal regular period and be pregnant at the same time. However, she can get pregnant a week or two after her normal period. If she has some spotting or light bleeding that doesn't look like her normal regular period, she can check a urine pregnancy test about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) to see if she is pregnant.

If : If you are on the pill and have been using it correctly (taking it everyday at the same time everyday), then you have a less than 1% chance of being pregnant. What is more likely is that you may be on a low estrogen birth control pill which can cause light spotting or missed periods. If you are concerned that you might still be pregnant, you should take a pregnancy test 1 week after the light period/spotting for 97% accuracy. If you continue to feel ill or have irregular periods, you should contact your doctor.  Good luck!
