An ovarian cyst: Has absolutely nothing to do with  sex, u need to see your gyn to see wht type and how big it is, certain types and sizes can resolve on their own , others will need surgery.

No: No it cannot. However, if the cyst is large enough intercourse can cause it to rupture producing pain.

You should be disc: Discussing this with your gyn doc, depends on what kind of cysts you have, you may need to get on continuous bc pills to prevent the cysts, if you have endometriosis you may need depo- Lupron (leuprolide) or further surgery so without knowing more details cannot provide other advice so you should make an appt with your gyn or go for a 2nd opinion, but if u go for a 2nd opinion make sure u bring your records.

Depends: You would be safe to resume relations by 4 weeks after surgery and maybe even sooner depending on what the surgery involved and how it was done.  It could be ok to have sex  much sooner - you can ask your doctor.

Yes: A cyst ruptures to release the egg.  It ruptures during ovulation.

The cyst...: ...is a possible cause, but if it's less than 3 cm, it's not likely.  Painful intercourse can be due to adhesions, endometriosis, muscle spasms, dermatitis, among other causes.  I have found that many women think they are abnormal for having painful sex, but the reality is most women do not like when their cervix is manipulated, and you may be normal.  It depends on your medical history and exam.

i have sizeable ovarian cysts. i have unprotected sex with my boyfriend all the time and i have never gotten pregnant. can i even get pregnant?

Maybe: Do you mean you have polycystic ovaries(PCOS)? Typically those cysts are multiple but small. Or do you mean multiple large cysts?  PCOS is associated with irregular cycles and failure to ovulate. Many times you will need fertility medications in that case.  If you have regular cycles then it's definitely possible to get pregnant. There are other possibilities (tubal or male factor) for infertility

Depends on size: Ovarian cysts are a normal process of egg development and you normally dont feel any different than normal. Large cysts can be functional and produce abnormal levels of hormones which could cause pain, abnormal bleeding. Some cysts may cause pain during intercourse or with physical activity. Some make you feel full or your clothes fit tightly.

Yes: Your ovaries are still fining after a tubal ligation. Cysts will come and go and are part of the normal cycle.

Yes: An endometrial (uterine) ablation will not alter the hormones your body produces which can in turn cause ovarian cysts.
