What disease: Lets say it is sickle cell trait. You must have 2  defective gene copies ie an abnormal one from both parents to have the full blown disease. Both parents must be carriers and it depends on what disease you are referring to.

MCV: What is your MCV? Patients with thalassemia trait have low MCV, i.e, less than 75. From what you have described it is unlikely that you have thalassemia trait.

Beta Thalassemia: When only one parent has beta thalassemia trait and the other does not have a blood trait, there is essentially no chance of having a baby with any form of beta thalassemia disease. However, each child has a 50% (or 1 in 2) chance to inherit beta thalassemia trait from the parent. Any Grandchildren would have a 25% chance of inheriting the Beta Thalassemia trait but not the disease.

Likely no: It sounds like you've educated yourself on your condition beta thallesemia minor.  Plenty of women have successful pregnancies with this condition all the time.  I wasn't sure what you meant when you said your husband has e trait? If you have any questions, consult a perinatologist.  They are the best doctors for managing high-risk pregnancy.

Dumb luck: The mutations that drive cancers are largely random. It's being worked out, but even the genetic syndromes that put people at risk for superficial spreaders such as CDKN2A also produce nodulars. Basically they're the same illness except that the nodulars got good at breaking through the basement membrane earlier than the superficial spreaders. Hoping you have an early lesion and surgical cure.

Yes: Sickle trait is when one of your genes for red cell formation is the sickle gene (s).  If either of your parents, irrespective of race, carries the trait gene then you have a 50% chance of getting that gene.  The chance of a parent having one s is much higher if he/she is black. But some whites do carry the trait gene.

Yes. : Pain crisis and even worse complications can occur in people with sickle cell trait. It is more likely to occur when dehydrated and when experiencing altitude changes. I have seen this be a problem when someone with sickle cell trait comes from sea level to the mountains for vacation.  Important to stay well hydrated.

Not necessarily: If you and your partner both have sickle cell trait, there is a 25% chance your child will be normal (not have sickle cell trait or anemia), a 50% chance they will have sickle cell trait (just like you and your partner), and a 25% chance they will have sickle cell disease. Prenatal diagnosis is available early in pregnancy that will tell you what your child has.
