can you get a vaginal staph infection again?  or could it be something  else? all std test came back negative both times can it be a false negative?

Accepted Answer

Staph infections...: and yeast vaginal infections aren't considered STD's.  Routine testing for STD's generally include Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Trichomonas vaginitis only. Technically that's not a "false negative" test since you weren't tested for Staph.  But, yes, you could have a Staph infection AND negative STD tests.  However, Staph would be an unusual cause of vaginal infection.  Hope this helps!

i get extremely painful bumps filled with pus and blood in my vagina hairs every couple of months. i have been compressing them with a warm wash cloth but i'm not exactly sure what that does. i also just recently found out i had a staph infection aka mrsa

Accepted Answer

There may be an: ...association between the MRSA and the recurrent infection in the vaginal hairs (folliculitis).  If you're being treated appropriately with the antibiotics for the MRSA, that might help clear up the folliculitis.  Be aware tho that any bacteria still hiding in the follicles may cause a flair up.  Talk with your doctor about that &amp; that other hygiene measures to help prevent recurrences.

is it possible to get a mrsa staph infection in your inner vagina lip from a cut u got shaving? especially since have had reaccurring mrsa for 6 years

Accepted Answer

Yes: You can get MRSA anywhere the skin gets broken, and  many people have been colonized with MRSA so they get recurrent infections. If you have had that, then be sure to see you doctor, and you  may  need an infectious disease doctor, to treat you with the proper antibiotics. Your doctor might also culture your nasal passages maybe treat for carriage of MRSA in the nose. Go to your doctor!

Vaginal flora: Staph is a normal colonizing agent of the skin and external vaginal mucosa.  If there is a break in the skin or a hair follicle or gland (e.g.: bartholins gland) becomes inflamed these can  become infected with staphylococcal organisms.

: Staph is a common skin germ found almost anywhere in nature. It is not considered a STI . Vaginal yeast infections are often the result of cross contamination. Yeast is found is the feces &amp; the location of the anus so close to the vagina means it easily transfers into that location. Close attention to cleanliness of these sites may help as can some over the counter vaginal care products.

Sometimes none: Both of these bacteria can normally exist in the vagina. Usually symptoms don't occur un less the bacteria overgrows. At that point symptoms may include a vaginal discharge and possibly odor.

Staph infection.: Staph  is a common skin bacteria so these infections aren't particularly rare.   There are antibiotics that should help clear this up.   As far as transmission to a partner  - generally not an issue unless your partner has an open area in his genital area.  Also  showering after sex should help reduce the chances of any spread.

Doxycycline : Minocycline or Doxycycline or Bactrim DS or cephalexin or dicloxacillin  or clindamycin. Are are good choices for Staphylococcus aures infection if Oxacillin sensitive. 
If MRSA then depends on its susceptibility pattern of the specific strain being treated.

"bumps on vagina" ?': What is described, on vaginal areas and thighs can be venereal warts, and possibly Lichen sclerosis.  Check with your gyn provider as this may need a biopsy to confirm.

Likely Yeast: Based on your symptoms, you likely have a yeast infection.  You could try over the counter treatment and see if your symptoms resolve.  It could also be some type of allergic reaction to something you have recently come into contact with, such as different hygiene or laundry products.
