Wrong drugs: Flagyl would do nothing to treat a uti, and Doxycycline would not be a typical choice, either.  Flagyl treats trichomonas, and Doxycycline treats chlamydia, but this would not be a good combination for a uti.

If taken correctly: Doxycycline is one of the most commonly used antibiotics for Chlamydia infection.  It should be taken consistently twice a day for 10 days.  It is always a good idea to have a repeat test 1-2 weeks after finishing the medication, to ensure that the chlamydia is gone (called a test for cure).

Yes: Infections usually cause symptoms.  Doxycycline will not just target acne but kill the bacteria that stand in it's way, good and bad.  Take probiotics and eat yogurt to repopulate your stomach with healthy bacteria again.  Be sure to take the antibiotic with food.

Maybe: Nobody's sure how many people harbor Lyme disease. If you're coming down with Whipple's, it may cure you without knowing. It may also protect you from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever if you get a tick bite. Beyond this, I can't think of any. Few people harbor unknown bacterial infections like these. Best wishes.

can i get a bacterial std from receiving oral if im on doxycycline already from a sinus infection. i was on doxycycline before during and after the event. the girl barely did it for maybe 5 seconds before we both realized it was a mistake?

: Unless one or both of you had an open wound where there was a blood to blood contact, than no transfer of an STD. The fact that you were on doxycycline all but reduces your chance of contracting an STD.

i have a tattoo appointment scheduled for friday and i was prescribed metronidazole 500mg and doxycycline 100mg taken 2 times a day for 14 days for a possible iud insertion infection and im not even half way through them, can i still get my tattoo?

:  In general, there would be no interference to getting a tattoo and taking those antibiotics. Doxycycline can make the skin more sensitive to the sun.

Yeast infection: Antibiotics can predispose one to a yeast infection by killing off the "good bacteria" that would normally keep yeast at bay. Steroids can add to the problem by decreasing some the body's natural immune/inflammatory response to the yeast allowing it to proliferate.
