I think the first: ....thing you should do is find out if it IS lice.  It's virtually impossible to see your own head SO SEE A DOCTOR!.  Other things can cause this creepy-crawly sensation, certain cold medications for example, but lice definitely need to be looked for before you start wondering what else it could be.  Dr. Anne

i don't have head lice but around the front of my hair line it feels like bugs are always crawling there. what could be the cause?

Irritation?: There coukd e sensitive nerves which cause disconfort. After evaluation if the skin looks normal and there are no underlying medical problems such as diabetes or thyroid issues, intralesional steroids Lidocaine may give you relief.

i became itchy one day: scalp/body/arms/legs. white specs (not flakes) smaller than grains of sand appear on my shirt and bedsheets daily. i get crawling sensations on my head, but urgent care said no lice. any thoughts?

Dry skin: Dry skin is a possibility. May depend on the environment you live in. Regardless, does not sound serious  nor does it sound like an infectious disease.

i get this crawling/tingling feeling on the right side of my scalp and near my right eyebrow, it comes and goes throughout the day, started a few years ago when i had lice. had blood work, ct scan everything normal but i do have bad anxiety?

: It is not feasible to provide an opinion without additional history, physical examination may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor to see if you may be depressed. Depression is treatable. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated. Drink more water. Wish you good health!

NO worries: Lice can crawl but they lay their eggs on hair shafts close to the scalp, no on skin.

Lice or scabies or?: Although scabies usually doesn't affect the scalp, if it were, it would be behind ears and at base of head.  Shaving your hair off would usually have treat pediculosis (lice).  Have your doctor evaluate you.  Treat you scalp/body with a scabicide such as permethrin as directed, or perhaps ivermectin.  Scabies is caused by a skin-burrowing mite, so would not be affected by shaving. Could be fungal.

how long is it supposed to it take for a child's head to be infested with lice?

Lice: If by infested you mean catch it from someone else - when the adult lice move to your head you may not feel any symptoms. As they start to hatch new ones you may notice many more and have more symptoms. This typically happens 6-12 days after exposure.  Life cycle of a louse is 9-15 days.  This is also why treatment should happen twice to get two life cycles.

Sebaceous Dermatitis: You might have dandriff or a dermatitis.  Go see your family doc.  You may need a special shampoo.  Lice may still be a possibility.

Earbuds are ok: Lice prefer hair and scalp, but they run around quickly and could end up on headphone head bands (although it seems unlikely to happen). Earbuds are ok, because there is almost no place for the lice to hide. If a person is worried about using somebody else's headphones, he can keep them in a plastic bag for 2 or 3 weeks before using them. By then, the lice should have died.
