Of course .....: ...if it fits in your calorie allotment!  I presume you are talking about a diet designed for weight loss. As long as you eat a reasonable portion and you still have room for fruits and vegetables that you need for good nutrition, you can assign a few (300-400) calories to meatloaf and cornbread, at least once in a while!  Do make sure you know your daily calorie allowance for weight loss:)

Complex carbohydrates in the form of whole grains, should make up 1/4 of your plate servings. 1/2 your plate should be fresh fruits and or vegetables. And 1/4 of your plate should be protein.  Beans and legumes are also healthy carbohydrates.  Avoid too much fat, fried foods.

The best way to lose weight is to avoid processed food and concentrate on a whole food approach. to sum it up eat lean meats, fruits and vegetables.
