Angina: People who have coronary artery disease (blocked arteries in heart) often get chest pain with physical activity or emotional upset.  This is called angina. The symptom you are feeling could definitely be coming from a blocked heart artery.  You need to do 2 things: 1) tell your heart doctor about your symptoms. 2) quit smoking, or you will definitely be back for more stents, or worse. Good luck.

Depends on cause....: Depends on what is causing your chest pain and what type of blockages if any is seen on your coronary angiogram.  The best person to answer your question is your cardiologist.  You should ask him/ her to explain findings of the angiogram or stress test and whether your chest pain is being potentially caused by a blockage.

my dad had a bypass in dec 2015  & in aug this year had a stent put in. is there a special diet that he could follow to improve the condition of his heart. he still complains of pain in his chest when he walks an incline & has difficulty bending down?

Surgical pain: May talk to the cardio-thoracic surgeon. Healthy diets like Mediterranean or simply low carb, high fiber, high vegetable, lean meat or fish, low salt, low sweets, less fried or processed food

Several reasons: If the cardiologist has been informed and deemed it to be non-cardiac.  The simplest explanation is anxiety.

With known coronary: disease (previous stent) there is always the possibility for heart attack but it should be considerably lower with a normal recent angiogram and EKG. Contact your husband's health care provider and discuss your concerns. He/she will have a better idea of what to advise for management since he/she has the whole picture.

Your : Your exertional chest pain (angina) is a result of poor blood flow to the region of your heart supplied by this small artery. Based on your description, this sounds like a lower-risk lesion for serious complications like major heart attack or sudden cardiac death; and so would not warrant surgical bypass or higher-risk stenting. The good news for you is that a recent large clinical trial (courage study) has taught us that this type of blockage is treated very effectively with aggressive medical therapy. You are already on good drugs, but you may benefit from increased doses and/or the addition of newer anti-anginal therapy like Ranolazine (ranexa). If you have not already been referred to cardiac exercise rehab, this may also help relieve your angina.

Neither: AED and chest compressions are performed in the setting of cardiac arrest- i.e. When the heart is not beating well enough to provide blood to the rest of the body. This is apparent because the patient will be unresponsive and will not have a pulse. Heart attack refers to a blockage of one of the arteries in the heart which typically causes chest pain but not unresponsiveness.
