Possible Strep: You may have Strep Group A infection which may be associated with both a rash and sore throat.
Please drink fluids, monitor your temperature and have a screening test for Strep. 
Watch for signs of prolonged fever and swollen joints.

how do we differentiate between covid and flu?
my son started with a very sore throat last night and i cant seem to get his fever under control
spread through the house very quickly to everyone else

Stay home: Do whatever you do with a regular flu.
Drink a lot of fluids, use acetaminophen/paracetamol (tylenol) for the fever and sore throat, eat/drink citrus and please stay home and away from the elders. Follow the recommendation of your local authorities.

Only go to medical services if you feel shortness of breath and use masks if you feel sick and need to go out of your house

See your doctor: YOur doctor can examine your rash and make a diagnosis.  She will help you treat this as well.  While you are seeing your doctor have her check your throat.  There are occasional rashes with strep throat.  Hope you feel better soon.

Not likely: Mrsa colonization by itself causes no problems, but puts you at risk for invasive disease if you have major events, like surgery.  Mrsa is an aggressive pathogen, so it isn't likely the cause of chronic sore throats or headaches.  Unnecessary treatment of MRSA colonization leads to other problems like increased resistance to other antibiotics as well.

Unlikely chickenpox: A rash with fluid filled blisters is suggestive of chickenpox, but the distribution is atypical. Chickenpox usually starts with lesions on the abdomen and then spreads up and out and includes the entire body.  Lesions that are limited to hands and ankles along with a sore mouth or throat are more consistent with a Coxsackie virus, often called hand foot mouth virus.  An exam would confirm.

Many possibilities: It could be viral (possibly even hand-foot-mouth disease, which has presented more in older kids for the past couple years than in previous years), but strep throat can't be entirely ruled out without examining your child.  You can give ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and fever and see your doctor tomorrow.

Doctor can examine: Throat pain in a teen can be from a strep throat (antibiotics needed), a cold or flu (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to look for strep). Occasional sharp chest pains may or may not be related to the throat, so a Dr. should check.
