my son found a tick on me and swatted it away but it looks like it bit me.red scab.i dont know how long it was there. will i get lyme disease? what are things to look for? i feel numbness in back but cant tell if its related. thanks?

: The risk to develop Lyme disease is extremely low after brief attachment, defined as less than 36 hours.  Given the uncertainty of the duration tick had been fed before its removal, you may want to consult with your PCP or your local health dept. regarding doxycycline prophylaxis.

Catching chicken pox: Not likely if all the pox sores have completely scabbed over, the child is no longer contageous.  However if  all the scabs are not completely scabbed over  then the child is still contageous.

Syphillis: Is spread by skin to skin contact. If the person had a sore and you touched it,  it is possible it was transmitted.    You will need an exam and blood testing by your dr.

Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

May be psoriasis: Hard to say without seeing. The presence of thickened red scaly plaques on the elbows & knees can be common sites for psoriasis. I would see a dermatologist to have it checked.

Why?: Scabs actually slow down wound healing. If you have a superficial injury to the skin, clean it gently with warm water once or twice a day to remove any debris, then apply Vaseline petroleum jelly to keep the base of the wound from drying out.
