can neck surgury cause a female to have hot flashes every 10 min? my wife had neck surgury about a year ago on a disk.she started having hot flashes soon after.can something that the doctor did cause her to have the hot flashes?

I : I am not aware of a relation between neck surgery and hot flashes.  She should have a complete evaluation by her primary care doctor and gynecologist as hot flashes every 10 minutes are abnormal.  Please be sure that her blood pressure is normal.  Her doctor may need to perform additional tests to verify a diagnosis.

i'm a 16-year-old male. i get hot flashes many times a day during both day and night. they last anywhere from 10 seconds to around 5 minutes and cause my head and neck to sweat and sometimes turn completely red. what could be causing this?

See a dr: Hot flashes occur when hormonal fluctuations work on your nervous system to cause warmth, sweating &amp; skin redness. In a teen male, causes may include stress, anxiety, thyroid dysfunction, testosterone drop, androgen suppression and testicular cancer. Certain medications/supplements may also cause hot flashes such as niacin, green tea extracts, steroids. See a dr to do a comprehensive workup

Not a thyroid cause: If the thyroid is fine, then it's not causing your symptoms.There are other causes for hot flash and elevated liver enzymes beside thyroid. Are you perimenopausal? Do you have a viral or other form of infections? Are you on medications that can cause this?  It's hard to say without an examination & asking more questions. Pls see your doctor for an evaluation, esp if you have elevated liver enzymes.

Thirty : Thirty would be extremely young fo rmenopause.  I am glad that you have had testing performed by your physician and endocrinologist.  It may be helpful to keep a log of your symptoms and review them with your physician or specialist in the future so that they are aware of all of your symptoms.

Nursing: Estrogen levels drop while you are nursing (that's why the vagina is very dry in a nursing mother). Patients often experience the other symptoms of low estrogen, including hot flushes and night sweats. It may take several weeks for your body to 'bounce back' after you stop nursing. Give it a few more weeks. If no improvement, see your healthcare provider.

Several issues: There are several areas that should be explored with your doctor.  First, get evaluated for a hormonal imbalance.  With thinning hair and an ovarian cyst, the diagnosis of pcos is possible.   The osteopenia is concerning because of your age but can be caused by some sort of nutritional deficiency, such as vitamin d deficiency or celiac disease (causing difficulty with absorption of vitamins).
