Just to mellow out: Either med should work fine, but just take a small dose enough to mellow-out and not knocked-out. Prolonged immobility at high altitude increases risk of blood clot, so move around often when u can. Flying across time zones will likely cause some jet lag sx, so start sleeping earlier and earlier before flying east and later if flying west. This reduces time-differences. Melatonin may help.

Bruxism: Anxiety itself can cause bruxism (teeth grinding at night) -- but so can some medications used to treat anxiety disorder, such as duloxetine and other ssri's.  Buspar (buspirone) has been used with some success in these cases. Dental appliances may be needed at times also.  You haven't said whether you're getting treatment for your anxiety, but seeing a psychiatrist for this would be a good place to start.

i take trazodone to help me sleep because of anxiety and depression.  i've heard that it is supposed to help with night terrors and such. yet i still get night terrors and lucid dreams. is there anything i can do to help with these?

Traz: May consider a different nighttime medication. There are a few medications that help with nightmares assoc with ptsd but usually I do not recommend adding a medication to manage the side effects of another medication.

its 3:00 am and i am still awake. i am taking two moresleeping pills because pain and anxiety don't let me sleep.what is wrong with me?

Pills are not answer: You probably are burned out on the pills.  You sound like you are abusing them. They will stop working the more you take them.  It is time to get a new approach.  It may be time to leave western medicine and all of the pills you are taking and learn how to sleep again naturally; to prevent your anxiety with exercise, yoga, breathing exercises. Please get some help with your addictions.

Jittery in the AM: Felling "jittery" in the morning may be anxiety, just due to the  transition from sleeping to wakefulness or changes in blood pressure. I suggest bringing this symptom to  the attention of your physician.

Start w medical eval: to rule out underlying medical conditions. Talking therapy (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or insight oriented psychotherapy) is allows for lasting change. Psychiatric meds may be indicated. Don't isolate. Spend time w people. Use your support system. Get out.  Get at least 8 hrs of sleep/ night &amp; eat healthfully. Daily aerobic physical activity is a big +. Try acupuncture, tai chi, qi gong or yoga

Anxiety ; Sleep: Use a time other than bedtime to write down problems ;  work on solutions. Breath in slowly ; deeply through your nostrils. Fill your lungs with air (but not to the point of discomfort). Hold for a count of five then slowly begin to exhale through an open mouth. Repeat at least 12 times, longer if you need to.  A mild anxiolytic (prescription) is often very helpful for people who ruminate.

Anxiety is a common cause of insomnia.: Worry, or being preoccupied, often lead to sleep difficulties, especially falling asleep. If this has been occurring only for a few days or weeks, then there are common causes. If you're experiencing any life stress, write your issues down well before bedtime, and resolve to return to them the next day. Bed time routines are vital to getting your mind prepared for sleep, as is getting into bed at a reasonable time. Do some light reading or listen to music. If you're not asleep in a half hour or so, don't stay in bed and pressure yourself to sleep. Get out of bed, engage in easy distraction, then try again! If the issue persists, or you're awakening in the middle of the night, have a chat with your doctor.
