Windburn: Yes, windburn is real thing.  It is misconception that the wind causes the burn but actually it is due to sun.  So wear your sun block or protection when going outdoor even in a cloudy days.

Simple Care: Burns are the response of the tissues to injury from heat. It is simply inflammation which means increase blood flow to the area to promote healing. Depth determines care.  Do not use ice worsens already injured skin. Cool water soaks help as can taking anti-inflammation medicines like Motrin or advil (ibuprofen). Avoid any further damage as this can cause scarring . Good skin cream applied daily/gently helps.

Superficial: It sounds superficial, as you would expect from a sunburn.  This can occur due to winter temperatures as well.  It is generally self limited and requires no treatment.  If it does start to hurt, aloe vera or a similar product would help.

Excessive dryness: Colder, drier and winder weather strips your lips of moisture, resulting in breakdown which promotes cracking, peeling and flare  ups of cold sores.  Avoid excessive licking and use a hypoallergenic non-scented lip balm for protection.

Sunburn treatment: Aspirin or Ibuprofen will help with the pain and reduce some of the inflammation caused by this 'radiation' injury-because that's really what a sun burn is. You can also get an aloe plant and squeeze the gel like stuff on the affected areas. Cool showers and oatmeal baths might help as well. Hopefully this is the last sunburn of your life because it can damage skin (wrinkles) and lead 2skin cancer

hi i woke up yesterday morning to a red rash on both hands .thought they could be wind burn from being in cold..now my right hand is swollen any help.

Hand rash/ swelling: How cold did you get? Do you have pain ?  Did your fingers turn white/ blue at any point? Could be frostbite, or Raynauds( usually fingers turn white or blue) Would go to the ER this morning/today to prevent  permanent  damage
