i have lupus. recent sodium level was 134 (normal is 135-145).  have been suffering from low blood pressures.  should i be concerned or not?

We need more info: The 134 is not dangerous. The level depends on medication, renal function, and other problems and processes within your body. This is a specific problem and your physician can best answer it.

POTS and sodium: Excreting less than 124 mmol per 24 hours of sodium in the urine predicts if you will respond favorably to salt supplementation. One also is advised to increase fluid intake to prevent the BP from dropping and the heart rate from rising ( typically above 120 b/m ) upon standing. If sodium is excreted in larger amounts chances are other therapies will be needed ( B blockers, fludrocortisone etc )

Differences: Himalayan salt is claimed to contain magnesium, and other elements which are absent in general table salt.  The science dealing with salt and blood pressure elevation is somewhat contraversial and it would behoove you to discuss this further with your doctor.

Increased sodium: Intake can raise bp.  This affects different individuals variably.  That is. Some people are more salt sensitive.

Probably: If you already have problems with blood pressure then yes! we recommend a 2 gram sodium diet for patients with BP problems.  The average american consumes around 18 grams a day! way too much.  Keep salt low regardless having elevated blood pressure.  Unless you're a long distance runner who needs plenty of electrolytes or you have some strange condition that requires your body to keep a high salt.

Salt: The more salt in the body the more blood volume and the higher the vascular resistance. By restricting salt intake you help minimize these effects.
