i've recently been treated for pnemonia and sinus infection. most of my symptoms are gone, but i have a "frog in the throat" and have to force up small amounts of mucus every morning (no cough). the mucus has blood in it, how much should i worry?

: The forcing of mucus up every morning can cause a little bleeding and likely the reason. Mucus in the throat is from post nasal drip at night. Would be best to drink plenty of more liquids, take mucinex to thin the mucus and ensure your sinuses are clearing with a decongestant. Chronic sinusitis is often the cause of pneumonia with the post nasal drip. Make sure the the beeding also stops.

Infection: if the sinus infection is  a bacterial infection and is not treated with an antibiotic it can certainly develop into pneumonia

Waiting longer can lead to a chronic problem, brain abscess, .

: Bacterial meningitis if related to a sinus infection would onset soon after initial symptoms or be evident before the sinus infection was apparent. The fact that it has been going on for a while means your system has walled it off into the affected area.

Yes and no: A sinus infection can result from a good wisdom tooth removal as well. The roots of upper teeth often are positioned in or near the maxillary sinus. If the wisdom tooth is infected or if an infection results after the extraction it can infect the sinus... There is a barrier between the brain and the sinus but all sinus infections should be treated. If it is bad, referral to an ENT is indicated.

They can get filled with fluid when your get a cold, and that fluid, over time, can get secondarily infected with bacterial.  Classic pneumonia is a bacterial infection in the air sacks of the lung and needs antibiotic treatment.

Yes: Sinus congestion can linger after pneumonia.  It usually starts with a viral infection and then the sinuses get blocked causing pressure. You can try saline nasal washes to open the sinus passages and promote drainage.

i am having sinus surgery to help with a mesa sinus infection.  if i have a slight  case of pneumonia at the time will this hinder the operation.
