i didnt loose my baby weight from my first pregnancy. i am now pregnant again & worried about the risk of preeclampsia & gestational diabetes due to being overweight. i am 54 & weight around 169. should i worry?

Accepted Answer

: Pre-eclampsia is usually more frequent with first pregnancies, and gestational diabetes is a risk, but usually well controlled with frequent monitoring of glucose levels and treatment with insulin if necessary.  Ask your OB physician about a nutritionist consultation, as lowering carbohydrate consumption will decrease likelihood of either condition adversely affecting pregnancy.

my wife is 38 had a c section on 11/18/22 she had gestational diabetes was on insulin delivered 5 weeks early due to preeclampsia now her heart isnt working right according to the walk in clinic right lower leg hurts in various places slow  rate?

urine results show calcium oxalate crystals, mucus threads & protein. i am 10 weeks pregnant and i have a 2,5 yo son(his pregnancy was difficult: preeclampsia & gestational  diabetes detected too late).what these results mean? my doc ordered ekg why?

Good question: B"sd important question - most common would be reactive hypoglycemia - a pre diabetic condition with overproduction of sugar by the liver and some delay in insulin release with meals.  Hypoglycemia, however deserves a proper endocrinology evaluation.  glad to discuss

excessive sweating during sleep - no diabetes, high bp or other chronic health conditions. sweat so much i have to change clothes at night. stay hot and over heat easily. 5 months postpartum on zoloft not breastfeeding?

Yes: Often it would be due to fluid retention that occurred during the pregnancy. Your body does a pretty good job of diuresing ('urinating' away the fluids retained during the pregnancy).

Postpartum hypertens: The miracle of pregnancy can sometimes be associated with complications. Hypertension could develop in the third trimester or early postpartum (after delivery) period. This can be treated with medication effectively. Half of women may remain hypertensive longterm, while the other half will return to normal blood pressure.
