Not expensive: Paxil (paroxetine) is a fairly inexpensive ssri anti-depressant medication that works very well in most patients and requires a prescription.  It should be less than 20 dollars for a month supply depending on the dosage. It does take time to build in your system (sometimes up to 3 weeks) so be patient with it. Dosage may need adjusting by gradually tapering up. It comes in 10, 20, 30 and 40 mg.

Do you remain in one: area long enough to have a physician who prescribes for you?  If the physician knows you well enough - he or she might be willing to call in prescriptions to differing locations. It is probably extra work for the physician but it might be an option.  This doesn't mean that your doctor would be up for it though.

Report to your doc: Whenever any medications being adjusted upward, side effects must be monitored more closely. For ssri's  watch for any irritability, anxiety, disturbance of sleep, gastric discomfort, or headache. Also the blackbox warning states to watch for any increase in suicidal thinking or behaviors consistent with that type of thinking. Remember only a small percentage of people will get side effects.

Do not drink: First, alcohol is a depressant. Drinking it when on an anti-depressant is unwise and not ever recommended. Second, your liver is working overtime already with the Paxil (paroxetine). It would be wise not to drink when depressed and in treatment for depression.

Bleeding is not a: regular side effect of the Paxil (paroxetine).  You may want to discuss this with your physician.

Target symptoms: Depending on your baseline symptoms or presence or not functional impairment, the Paroxetine and other SSRI's have a latency period, sometimes with significant side effects for a few days. It is noted that the medication usually take 2-3 weeks to kick in. It is also worth mentioning that nature of the problem is a factor, for instance if the Dx is OCD, Depression, panic attacks or an anxiety dis.
