Anovulatory cycle: It sounds as if you had an anovulatory cycle. These are cycle in which the ovary fails to release an egg.  This dirupts the usual hormonal levels, leading to an abnormal cycle.

Vaginal discharge: Vaginal discharge requires an examination to determine the cause and treatment. Bacterial vaginosis is the most common cause and often has a vaginal odor. Vaginal itching can be a sign of a yeast infection. Sometimes vaginal discharge can be a sign of a sexual transmitted infection. Testing is important to determine the treatment and keep you and your partner safe.

Smelly stuff: I would see your gyno.  It sounds like you have a lost tampon.  This can cause serious infection.  It must be removed and vaginal tissues cleansed with peroxidez.

No: The ovaries are not connected to the uterus or vagina.  An ovarian cyst is a separate issue from malodorous vaginal discharge.  This is a sign of infection, such as bv, and should be evaluated and treated.  This is especially important if you are having pelvic pain that you are assuming is an ovarian cyst, but might actually be a sign of a pelvic infection!

Usually not: An ovarian cyst usually does not cause a lot of bleeding and discharge on a tampon.  Vaginal bleeding usually comes from the inside of the uterus or the cervix or the vagina. Bleeding from an ovarian cyst causes bleeding in the abdomen - this almost never comes out the uterus.
