i just found out that i probably have oral thrush. could that be connected to a gum infection that appeared about the same time?

Maybe: Typically you will get thrush if you are on a protracted course of antibiotics / antibacterial mouth rinse which alters the balance of flora in the mouth. If you get rid of too  many of the natural bacteria, the fungus takes over and is much harder to eliminate. So, if you were on any of these for the gum infection, that could be the relationship. hey ! i've been experiencing white tongue not oral thrush , blackish gum & dry mouth ... do you think it's hiv ?

Coated tongue: There are innumerable causes of white coated tongue, mostly not serious. HIV is among the causes, but it's a rare one. And coated tongue almost never is the main or only symptom of HIV; you would be quite ill. If you think you might be at risk for HIV, see a doctor for testing for HIV (and other STDs). But testing definitely isn't needed just because of coated tongue.

think i got oral thrush gums&where tonsils were is red raised ulcer like. tongue whitish yellow+red dots. lots pain can't chew. had 3 dif antibiotics?

got dry socket after molar extraction, now have inflammed, red  gum, in same socket but nearer to wisdom tooth.antib's cause thrush, any other solutions?

See your dentist: Dry sockets do occur, especially if you are smoking (don't!). Please call the dentist who removed your tooth. He/she will evaluate for any infection, any secondary problem, and possibly place a soothing packing at the site.  Antibiotics may not be necessary unless there is swelling. Call today.

what causes a bump on the gums? ive had a thrush break out and noticed a bump on my top gum-no teeth or dentures. the bump is regularly shaped and doesnt hurt nor is it sensitive to contact with my tongue, no bleeding or draining. gum boil? abscess?

: Thrush is a fungal disease that leaves white patches not bumps on gums or cheeks. Since you have no teeth or dentures, it could be an irritation on gums from eating something hard or pointed. It could be a small root tip or piece of tooth that was left in area. See a dentist for x-ray and exam.

No specific time: There are varying degrees of immune dysfunction with HIV and there are varying levels of exposure to agents that cause opportunistic infections (i.e. infections that occur when one's immune system is not functioning normally).   These variable factors will contribute to the time it takes to develop thrush.

Don't see: The connection unless you were treated with antibiotics for a period of time before or since the procedure.  They are the most common reason for oral candidiasis.

been sick since halloween have had oral thrush 3 times now. first not sure cause of second was on antibiotic this time not on antibiotic.

Diabetes: if you are overweight or obese or have family history of diabetes,please check ur self for diabetes.if not,then check of any underlying immune deficiency.you can still get thrush from the second time to third time if you did not use any nystatin for the second attack.see a doctor if this keeps continuing.
