Yes: Chronic and heavy alcoholism can cause delayed fracture healing, increased fracture incidence, low bone mass, and decreased bone formation.  However, occasional, social use of alcohol would not be expected to have such effects.

Medical marijuana: Probably not. Marijuana works as an anti-inflammatory. This means it can  help with tissue swelling.

No: Opioid do not slow healing of bone.  Some nsaids are thought to.  We don't like giving nsaids to fracture patients with fractures that like to not heal.

Negative effect: While eating Cannabis instead of smoking it reduces the risks associated with taking a toxin into your lungs amid smoke, it does not remove the effects of cannabinoids on blood vessels. Cannabinoids are known to cause hardening/blockage of small blood vessels which can increase stroke risk in any organ system. Decreased blood flow to extremities can dramatically slow the healing of fractures.

Stress: Emotional stress can increase cortisol and have effect on various physicological parameters including decreased resistance to healing, immunity etc.

Calcium: Make sure that you have the appropriate intake of calcium and vitamin d as these are really important in bone healing, . Also, make sure that you are not smoking or have any nicotine in your system as this can severely inhibit bone healing.

Strain or contusion: If you had X-rays done and there were no fractures, or broken bones, and, if you are able to close (flex) your fingers and open them (extend) some, then this means that you probably don't have any permanent damage. Time will tell. Injuries like this can take 8 to 12 weeks to heal fully. When in doubt, if not improving soon, you need to see an orthopedic doctor.

Nicotine patches: I don't think you will get side-effects from expired nicotine patches.  The effect of the nicotine might not work well due to pass expiration date.

No: If you reinforce the habit some of the time, you are strengthening the addiction.
