Yes, but...: Molds can cause allergy, and sore throat can be a symptom of allergy. However, it isn't usually the only symptom of allergy you will see: if your child also has ongoing itchy, watery eyes, stuffy nose, and sneezing, those are other possible allergy symptoms. Viruses and "strep throat" are more likely causes if the sore throat has been there a short time, or is the primary or only symptom.

Allergy?: Post nasal drip can cause you to have a persistent sore throat. You did not mention if you have nasal congestion with it. See your doctor for proper diagnosis.

Chlorine: Next time, do your spraying with good ventilation.  Your main concern should be is your sore throat getting better or worse.  If better, then don't worry.  If getting worse, better go see your GP about it.

Could be: Allergies are probably the number one cause of upper respiratory symptoms (like those you describe) that occur upon awakening. You are in that environment for hours every single day, so your exposure is ongoing and consistent.  You need to try and clean u that environment. If that's for some reason not feasible, then talk to talk about options for testing and treatment for those allergies.

Infection: Your symptoms are more consistent with a viral upper respiratory infection. If you have a known history of allergy you may experience some of the same symptoms. For persistent complaints see your doctor for evaluation and/or allergy workup.

Examination: Need a lot more information, including a complete medical history, to be able to diagnose/treat. Please make an appointment with your General Physician or Urgent care for evaluation then treatment or referral.  Take with you complete history of your mold exposure, a list of all the meds/supplements/vitamins that you take, and a list of any and all recreational drugs.

It can: Yes, mono can cause a very sore throat with white patches on the back of your throat/tonsils. However, there are many other infections that can also cause those symptoms. Mono is usually also associated with extreme fatigue and swollen lymph glands in the neck. If you suspect mono, there is a blood test that can be run to help determine if this is the cause of your symptoms.
