why is top of my hands burning&rash? allergy reactions from doing laundry, wash dishes, or just dry? i've tried using lotion but it made worse.

Option: Best to see a doctor. But for over the counter option try benedryl cream or the lowest cortisone ointment for itchiness. Please read side effects and consult pharmacist before purchasing. If still itchy, must go see doctor.

Irritant: The burning is likely from the cleansing agents you have been using to clean up the molds.  Try skin moisturizer and if needed Hydrocortisone cream.  Your type of reaction is not typical from mold exposure.

None: Where the rash appears tells you nothing about food allergies. Hives can appear anywhere on the body. Eczema can appear anywhere as well but is more commonly seen in the elbow creases, behind the knees, at the wrists, ankles, tops of feet & hands, behind the ears, eyelids, & anywhere on the neck.

Dermatitis : Bright red inflammatory itching tops of the feet and hands are consistent with some sort of atopic or allergic reaction to some object or organism.  Acute atopic dermatitis is consistent with such symptoms.  Try otc Hydrocortisone as a first aid treatment, but it does not subside within 72 hours, seek a dermatologist for a more throrogh examination.

Skin rash: Possible Contact Dermatitis (Eczema). Need to have it looked at by a Dermatologist.

Stress can absolute: -ly cause rashes. But the fact that it was only on your hands suggests to me either you had an exacerbation of an underlying hand eczema which could certainly be initiated by stress, or you were exposed to something in the center that caused a contact dermatitis or also exacerbation of underlying hand eczema. see derm for absolute answers. for now use thick ointments like aquaphor to protect hands

Arthritis?: Do you have any fever or any other joint pain or swelling? Talk to your doctor about it, not likely to be allergies.

Neuropathy: Burning sensation without any obvious lesion on the hand and feet is suspicious for neuropathy.  Need more detailed history/exam and may some diagnostic studies

Eyelid dermatitis: Skin lesions need to be looked at. Based on the description, you might have dermatitis in your eyelids. There are no good otc meds for it. Check with your local physician to have it looked at give you appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
