Probably: Doxycycline, which is related to minocycline, is used to treat syphilis in people who are allergic to penicillin, the preferred drug.  Minocycline would probably have activity against syphilis, but it hasn't been studied the way Doxycycline has.

Maybe/not...and..: This is not the choice drug for treatment. If you were to take a high enough dose for long enough it might fix chlamydia but not the usual STD germs taht can be caught at the same exposure.

: That's not how it works. The tetracyclines (doxycycline, minocycline, and a couple more) never are reliable by themselves against M. genitalium. Sometimes they work, but 7 days is enough; effectiveness does not improve with longer treatments. However, these drugs can be used for a week BEFORE then taking a week of moxifloxacin. It's a confusing issue. Best to see an expert, like an NHS GUM clinic.

Accepted Answer

No: Antibiotics help reduce the number of bacteria in the glands that cause acne but they do not eliminate the bacteria entirely and when you stop it goes back to what it was unless you are past that acne stage. For some this is in the late teenage years but some people have troublesome acne through much of their adult life.

No guarantees: Never say never, and never say always. While  taking Minocycline might help prevent many infections, if you take it all the time you can just breed resistant germs.

i was prescribed 100mg of minocycline for my acne, for 30 days but stopped halfway. even then i took them inconsistently. can this dosage cure chlamydia as well? my partner tested positive from a pap test but i tested negative twice at 2 diff places?

: The usual dose of minocycline for acne isn't enough to reliably cure chlamydia, but probably it would prevent infeciton if exposed; or could make your test falsely negative. If your partner has had a positive chlamydia test, then despite your negative test you should be treated with a single 1 g dose azithromycin; or doxycycline for 7 days; or take your minocycline 100 mg twice daily for a week.

See below: Not among the recommended antibiotics and likely would not be effective.  However, in non-pregnant women, BV resolves on its own in 1/3 of patients.

I won't worry: Unless u have any unusual or severe symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea etc. Most expired meds are safe to take although the potency is diminished. Take care!
