Unlikely: That is an excellent question however considering that you would likely take a one week course twice a day for a UTI, concentrate on a healthy diet and exercise instead. Drug info on macrobid does not mention weight gain but there are several potential adverse side effects and contraindications that your MD has to consider when you are given the drug for a UTI.

False negative: 12 hours is plenty of time for Macrodantin to reach the bladder and destroy most or all bacteria there. However you need more than a single dose to treat a UTI. Thus suggest you the Macrobid twice daily for 3 days.. Good luck.
