i have low blood sugar but my insulin levels are fine. i feel tired and have constant migraines. what do i have?

Not a sugar issue: You do not have diabetes or hypoglycemia. There are a hundred of other possibilities for symptoms of fatigue and migraines to include depression and other mental health issue. Not sure why a twenty year old male would think this was a sugar problem.

Get it evaluated: Have a doctor evaluate the problem and run some tests.

Need to examine: If the specialists who examined you were not able to provide a satisfactory answer, it would be impractical for doctors on this forum to do so. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated.

Of course: A decrease in blood sugar levels is a common migraine trigger. Change your diet to small and frequent meals with plenty of fresh, non–processed foods.

Multiple conditions: Get a comprehensive physical examination to include metabolic and endocrine blood and urine testing. Your symtoms require much further investigation.

If low enough: Yes. The brain relies on glucose for fuel. If glucose is too low it can harm the brain in serious ways.

Accepted Answer

At risk for diabetes: Whenever hypoglycemia occurs, it implies that there's a problem w/ how much insulin ur body makes (in this case too much @ the wrong time). Oddly enough, this means in the future your pancreas may "run out" of insulin when it needs it: diabetes. Consider this "pre-diabetes" or a diabetes risk factor. TTYD about dietary changes and ketogenic diets. It's good that u r w/o symptoms; hope it continues

No: Low blood surgar is dangerous as the brain and then other parts of the body are no longer able to function. Patients may become somewhat irritable and jittery and what they say often fails to make sense. They will often pass out and only if given glucose or glucagon will they survive. This is very dangerous. Make sure the intake of carbohydrate is adequate. Diabetics getting too much insulin same.

Not really.: Low blood sugar generally causes autonomic stimulation with shakiness, sweating, weak feeling, hunger.  These feeling do not generally last long.  Pms symptoms are generally hot flashes and emotional dysphoria.

Low blood sugar: Low blood sugar can lead to an abnormal heart rhythm, which increases the risk for a heart attack
