Possible: It may have started as a bite that has become secondarily infected. Have him/her checked. The fever may be related to the bite or another cause.

5-10 days: Most insect bites completely heal in days. Chigger bites may take more than 2 weeks to resolve. Reasons to see a doctor would be ulceration, significant pain, drainage from the bite site or fever

i have an insect bite on my left ankle, few days later got high fever and chills. also headaches and extreme swelling of my calf and ankle. house docter said tick bite fever, but the bite mark does not look like tick bite? can mosquitto bite do this?

Insect related : The illness may be related to an insect borne infection or an unrelated infection,but if the fever and symptoms worsen or persists, please see your physician. Fluids,rest and Ibuprofen for your fever are suggested.

hi my 3 year old has a very sore red throat. no cough or fever. we have been lockdown and dad and i went out shopping once a week. sanitized and kept our distance. he does have a swollen eye but the gp said it might be an insect bite.

Probable virus: This is likely a virus, but strep can't be ruled out. I would recommend acetaminophen or ibuprofen if he has  no medical condition which would not allow this, increase fluid intake, and if he develops a fever, vomiting, or sore throat is continuing to worsen, please contact his doctor again to possibly arrange to be seen or treated if indicated.

Masking: Hot water may cause irritation/burning sensation. Such nerve signals would mask the itching sensation from the bites. You feel good because you don't feel itching.

Try Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or: cover with Neosporin and a bandaid. Distract yourself from scratching. Once they are scratched vitamin E or Me derm may help. Avoid touching as scratching makes it worse. All the best.

M inimize itching: Try something like calomine lotion to minimize itching.Make sure they are not infected.

Never seen one: I've been following/treating kids for more than 3 decades and never saw it happen. I suppose if a kid is seizure prone any stress might put them over the edge.
