lower abdomen constantly making loud noises. i have been told that i could have ibs by my doctor but my bowel has been aching and making loud noises and is starting to make me feel nauseous. not sure how to relieve this. i get anxiety over it too?

: Go to see your physician for a full exam.  Sometimes diet restrictions are needed if it is IBS.  These might include not eating foods made with wheat or milk.

does ibs cause tender lymph nodes on left side of lower abdomen? i have a tender bump which im assuming is a lymph node and its tender to touch. only started a few days ago. my bowel hurts around it too sometimes. is that ibs too or something else?

: Since IBS is not an inflammatory disorder, there should be no lymph node reactivity from it. A rather superficial lump in the abdomen wouldn't be a lymph node. Left lower abdominal pain &amp; tenderness is seen in sigmoid diverticulitis. I think you should have an examination of your abdomen. by a physician in view of the presence of tenderness and a.lump.

recently, my bottom has been very sore due to frequent bowel movements. could this be a result of irritable bowel syndrome?

Accepted Answer

No: Soreness in your anus is irritation from the stool or too frequent of passing of stool.
Try applying some vitamin a & d ointment, neosporin cream and take tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain.
Ibs/ irritable bowel syndrome would present with alternating diarrhea and constipation accompanied by abdominal cramping, nausea, etc. And ibs is diagnosed after all other diagnoses are ruled out.

IBS: if you have been diagnosed with IBS, often increasing fiber intake and even taking a fiber supplement may help. You should increase your fluid intake if you do that. If this does not help, following a low FODMAP diet may help. You may need to Google that term for a more complete description. Good luck.

Sacroiliac joint: Right sided pain with IBS suggests unilateral sacroiliac joint (SIJ) disorder; both associated w. Joint Hypermobility Syndrome.  Constant aching "side" discomfort more likely associated w. chronic soft tissue disorder than w. spastic bowel, which generates crampy intermittent pain. Parasympathetic (PS) nerves overlie SIJ. SIJ hypermobity w. PS stimulation begets intestinal evacuation.

does this sound like ibs even with the normal movement.
ive had good colonoscopy and good yelp blood test. today wiped out no energy i just cause no sleep.

: If you were sick last night with abdominal pain, three bowel movements and lack of sleep, it is normal if you feel wiped out today at your age.
You probably ate something wrong with your dinner, IBS should not behave that way. 
Do not worry too much because anxiety and IBS have some causal relationship.

IBS and Sore Skin?: No, that is not related.    What do you mean by sore skin?   Is all of your skin sore to touch or just some of it?   How long have you had this?  Is there a reason you think the two are related?     If the sore skin is persistent, you should be evaluated  by a physician to find and treat the underlying cause.

Yes, but...: When you say "swelling" are you relating your abdominal circumference to feelings of distension, fluid retention, constipation, overeating, or do you feel pregnant? Hard to answer your question without further information and clarity.  Over what period of time have you noted the swelling--minutes or months, and what are your underlying medical problems (alcohol, liver disease, gut problems...)?

Individualized : Approach. There are many causes that may include: stress, hormones, infections, inflammation, structural to name a few. Best is to work together with a gastroenterologist to arrive at the correct answer for you. Everyone is different and there is not one straight approach. You may start with as simple as an elimination diet and record which foods may aggravate you. Best wishes!
