Not advised: Sudafed is a category c medication, indicating possible problems.  It is commonly prescribed but antihistamines like Claritin (loratadine) or zyrtec would be safer.  In any event, she should avoid any extraneous meds during the first trimester.

i took theraflu severe cold at 3pm and its now 7pm. can i take regular sudafed now?

Should be ok: Theraflu usually contains phenylephrine which has a short half life. Could use saudafed which has a long half life.  A word of caution though as decongestants can increase your heart rate and blood pressure so consult your doctor if u think u may have a heart condition or glaucoma

Postseptoplasty cold: Yes you can take it but better to check with your Dr . If there is any infection.

Probably OK...: There are a lot of different preparations of Sudafed - some have a combination of medications (e.g. for colds, or cough, etc.) and even Sudafed itself was changed (now, usually has phenylephrine where it used to have pseudoephedrine as the primary ingredient).  Some of the combination ingredients could have interactions with Lexapro, so it's important to know what's in the Sudafed you want to take

: That would not be wise, since both medications contain the same decongestant and could result in side effects. Wait the full 12 hours for the effects of the sudafed 12 hour to wear off.

: If that was regular acting Sudafed (not a long-acting formulation) then you should be ok to take the Tylenol Severe nighttime product.

: Yes and you should because sudafed may worsen BPH related lower urinary tract symptoms.

Claritin anti-histam:  Clairit in is an anti- histamine and Sudafed is a decongestant. They can both be used together.  There are also other medications that have both in one pill.

Probably: If you have used Sudafed before then you can take it now however it may keep you awake.
