i'm 34wks pregnant. is it ok to take halls cough drops? it's been about two weeks and i've been taking zantac (ranitidine) for a week so it's not r/t my heartburn.

IMHO, Yes: Halls cough drops should be perfectly safe in pregnancy, unless you had some unusual sensitivity to one of the ingredients.  If you took them before you were pregnant, they should be fine now.

Depends: There are some medications that you shouldn't take, like decongestants, if you are pregnant. A good cough medicine is plain old honey. It will coat the throat, is safe to use often, and tastes better.

See your doctor: The most important first step is to see your doctor.  You could have an infection, such as pneumonia or bronchitis.  You could also have asthma, or other important-to-detect conditions.

Obstetrician: I firmly believe that any medications you take during pregnancy should be cleared by your obstetrician and your pharmacist can also be helpful in looking up all the ingredients and their actions in compounded medication so you can share this information with your obgyn.

Yes: There are quite a few things you can take.  Of course, drinking lots of water is more important and right after that, getting a lot of rest. You can take plain sudafed after 1st trimester, plain robitussin, tylenol, (acetaminophen) cough drops are okay.  Benedryl and guanfenisin are also okay.  Good luck!
