CHILL OUT: PLEASE CONSULT WITH YOU PHYSIATRIST, NEUROLOGIST, PC AND OTHER TREATORS.  MEDICATIONS ARE USEFUL BUT THEY ALL HAVE INTERACTIONS AND SIDE EFFECTS SO ADDING ON MAY CAUSE WORSENING OF SYMPTOMS.  BEST TO LOOK AT THE ENTIRE PICTURE YOU ARE EXPERIENCING RATHER THAN USING MEDS FOR ONE THONG OR THE OTHER.  TRY MASSAGE, HOT AND COLD, STRETCHING AND MEDITATION.

: Neither of these is a controlled substance, so yes, they can be prescribed that way. But most pain docs would want to do at least one in person exam and then do virtual refills.

Very safe.: Both meds when used as directed are very safe.  Your prescriber should know about adjusting doses for renal clearance.  Sometimes Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) can be sedating but this seems to vary a lot. Gabapentin can also be mildly sedating.

i am on flexeril but i am almost out and my script isn't due yet so i have had to cut my dose down from 30mg a day to 10mg a day but i have been having withdrawal symptoms im also on gabapentin should the gabapentin help with the flexeril withdrawals?

: Well, I am a physician myself. I have been on Flexeril and Gabapentine. You have to slowly wean down on Flexeril then gabapentine. You will go thru withdrawal, fasciculation spasms. I take mag ox 400 mg daily

Gabapentin is useful: Many patients with fibromyalgia have been found to have small fiber neuropathy, which is pain or numbness involving the nerves. There is thought there may be some association, although it is theoretical. Gabapentin, a medication very effective for nerve pain, can be useful in patients with fibromyalgia.

Yes...sort of: The Gabapentin and flexeril/elavil can make one sleepy initially but is tolerable after a while if you're on the right dose. Naproxen is ok as long as you're mindful of it's GI side effects (ulcers). You may want to ask your doc about the flexeril/elavil combo - they are sort of similar drugs and may be too strong of a combined effect for you.
