Try Miralax (polyethylene glycol): Try MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) with the clear flavored gatorade. It may make it easier for you. Usually, each dose of MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) equals 25% of a bowel prep. So however much you didn't complete with your bowel prep - substitute one dose of MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) for each 1/4 of the prep.

i just had a colonoscopy today & i am still having diarrhea. is it ok to take some anti-diarrhea medicine?

Accepted Answer

Generally, no: Anti-diarrheal medication is generally not recommended after colonoscopy.  Discuss with your doctor if you continue to have loose stools for &gt;72hrs.  It also depends on your diagnosis, and reason for colonoscopy.  See your physician.

does it usually take a while to get over the painkillers and relaxing medicines given during a colonoscopy?

No: The effects of the sedation and analgesia should wear off within 2 to 4 hours.

going under anesthesia for colonoscopy. currently take 100mg fluvoxamine (luvox) any concerns with possibl drug interactions?

: In this instance I would want clearance from the anesthesiologist as there is always a concern for the very dangerous serotonin syndrome when SSSR's like luvox interact with other medications. Your pharmacist can also shed light on this matter.

can i take maxalt (rizatriptan) for a migraine if i am using suprep for a colonoscopy tried cold pack?

Accepted Answer

Yes however..: It is safe to use a Maxalt (rizatriptan) for a serious migraine but be advised you may be more lightheaded than normal because of the suprep. If you need to take the maxalt, (rizatriptan) lay down and avoid standing suddenly. If you are worried about needing to race to the toilet on the suprep, and have taken a maxalt, (rizatriptan) wear a depends so you can move slowly and safely without worrying about an "accident"!

would colonoscopy prep affect my birth control? my gi said to take all my medicine as normal. ive been worrying about my birth control not working?

: The G.I. prep should not affect your birth control efficacy

have head, sinus, ears, teeth are hurting. getting sick, have colonoscopy wednesday can i take anything like cold & sinus or what else?

Accepted Answer

I would suggest you : Notify your GI doctor as he will probably want to reschedule the colonoscopy. If it is elective, than there is no reason to take a chance if you have an infection and better to get over your cold and reschedule the procedure for a future date. You don't want to go thru the prep and show up sick on the day of the procedure and have them cancel it then.

scheduled for a colonoscopy monday.   have to prep tomorrow .  feel a cold sore coming on,on my mouth.  ok to take valtrex (valacyclovir) tonite and tomorrow ?

No problem: While Valtrex (valacyclovir) is efficaciaous in treating sores in the mouth it also  causes some GI complaints.  Since you are taking a bowel prep to clean the bowel prior to colooscopy it might be worth while to take one tab tonight and hold off taking the second unless the inflammation in your mouth becomes much worse and actually interfers with the prep intake.

normal colonoscopy, chest cta, & brain/neck/upper back mri. but get left arm numbness sensation when i take any medicine/supplements and foods high in fat/sugar/grease/dough make me feel fainty. even just 1 bite.not diabetic. what should i look for?

: With all the complex tests you have done and yours doctors could not make a diagnosis, it is impossible for us to provide an accurate assessment. Please follow with your doctors and trust them.
