No: You may have bacterial vaginosis (although it may be something else--only an exam can tell), and Amoxicillin is not the antibiotic we would use to treat that. Don't use left over antibiotics to treat illnesses and finish all courses of prescribed antibiotic--that will help prevent the development of bacteria that are antibiotic resistant.

Normal discharge: White to clear discharge is normal. As you progress through your cycle your vaginal discharge changes. At times it will be thinner or thicker depending on the time in your cycle. No medication needed as there is no infection.

Cause of discharge: needs to be determined. The treatment will depend on what is causing it. Leukorrhea requires no treatment. Yeast infection would be treated with an anti-fungal. Many STD's are treated with antibiotics.

Environment: It's likely that it's something related to summer activities or heat.  Maybe swimming?  Maybe different products you use for hygeine in summer?  Sometimes if women sweat or swim and don't shower right away, this can cause irritation.  Maybe you're more dehydrated?  Possibly it's a yeast infection in the summer.  Are there changes in your diet in summer?  Lots to think about, i know!

Can be normal: Not all vaginal discharge is abnormal.  The cervix is a gland that constantly produces mucus.  The quantity and quality of the mucus changes with pregnancy.  This mucus or discharge acutally prevents infections.  Abnormal discharges cause burning or itching or have a foul, fishy odor. Antibiotics, douching, and tampons are some of the things that can alter the pH and lead to vaginal infections.

Discharge is normal: It's normal to have some discharge every day.  What's not normal is discharge that smells funny or causes itching.  Or excessive discharge such that it's wetting your panties a lot.  If that's the case, and you've been checked for infection, it's likely something in your environment that your body's responding to.  Either a soap, a lubricant, your boyfriend's condom (like an allergy).

Discharge: The birth control pill can cause increase in thick vaginal mucus to prevent sperm penetration.   If there is no infection, may need to use a nonhormonal method of contraception if it persists and is bothersome.
