i've been on ciprofloxacin and flagyl since yesterday 2 xs a day and i still have temp 100.5 i'm on norco 2 can i take advil (ibuprofen)?

Not unusual: Not unusual when being treated outpatient for diverticulitis to run a low grade fever for up to 48 hours after antibiotics started. If pain and fever persist beyond 72 hours, need re-evaluation. Ibuprofen with norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) is OK if still hurting. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

Should be fine: Haven't heard of any significant interactions between ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and oral or gel metronidazole (Flagyl). There probably are non-significant little interactions among many of the common drugs we use, but we don't worry about non-significant little interactions because they generally don't cause problems or cause noticeble symptoms.

can i take my 800mg ibuprofen for my chronic migraines? i'm currently taking prednisone for an allergic reaction to flagyl?

Ibuprofen: And oral steroids both increase your risk of developing a stomach ulcer. If you absolutely have to do this, you'll need to take a strong antacid like omeprazole.

recently diagnosed with parasite. symptoms will subside with taking flagyl and ibuprofen/tylenol switch but  the headaches and ears ringing on and off are bothersome. gabapentin helped with issues before. would it help in this case?

Symptoms: Your best reference remains your doc. If your symptoms are believed to be related to the currently treated infection, adding meds until fully treated would not be recommended.

Taking medications:  Regular metronidazole can be taken with food or milk to prevent upset stomach but extended release metronidazole should be taken on empty stomach. Ibuprofen is usually taken with food or milk. Have you been taking these on an empty stomach?  Many ginger ale products don't have a lot of ginger- try nibbling on crystalized ginger, drink a "real" ginger ale or sip on ginger tea.

Meds ok: That combination of meds is probably ok, but check with the ohaacy or the doctor that described them to be sure for your case. You could try Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to help you sleep. It's usually very effective for this. Hope this helps!

Flagyl: "Flagyl Tablets is contraindicated in patients with a prior history of hypersensitivity to metronidazole or other nitroimidazole derivatives.In patients with trichomoniasis, Flagyl Tablets is contraindicated during the first trimester of pregnancy. Yes: Having said that, it also depends on the dosing and the duration of treatment.  The safety of Flagyl is labeled "conditional" which means depends on the dosing and the patient.  Flagyl is used safely in neonates and infants so a normal dose in breast milk is fine as long as it is not an extreme dose and extreme duration.
