Depends: Need to ask your pharmacist on specific pill formulation--some must stay intact so get "time release" dosing effect. Others, crush away! if there is any indication of extended release ("er" or similar in name), definitely not.

You shouldn't.: The old Amoxicillin will not hurt you, but is probably too old to be as effective as it should be.

Perfectly fine: To keep it effective you should take it every eight hours that you are up three times in a day.

tested pos for strep 7/2/17. prescribed amoxicillin for 10 days. twice a day. i would forget to take the 2nd pill at times. but never skipped a day. i had pills left over. today is 11th day. i took one in the a.m. but i lost my pills. am i at risk?

Strep: You should be fine but if you continue with sore throat, fever &gt;100.4F, lymph node swelling, and dry cough I would recommend getting retested.

Augmentin 875/125: This is a standard 'fixed dose' of Augmentin - which is quite an effective antibiotic. The clavulanic acid is a separate medicine from the amoxicillin which helps or 'augments' its effect. Unless you have a penicillin allergy or some other intolerance, I would take the antibiotic as prescribed. If you have questions, you can call the doctor who prescribed it in the first place. They're responsible

Probably nothing: These drugs are pretty much harmless. Someone could hardly take enough do do any damage. (Ten times this dose, or its equivalent in similar drugs, is sometimes given intravenously for serious infections.)

Nothing to do: be prepared for possible stomach ache and diarrhea from the clavulonic acid.  If you are not taking probiotics it may be a good idea to get some. Otherwise it is not going to hurt you.

i have been on amoxicillin 875 mg every 12 hours for 10 days but i have missed 3 doses so when i get to 10 days im gonna have 3 pills left over should i continue past the 10 days and take the 3 pills or stop at 10 days and not take them?

: In many cases of outpatient infections, 5-7 days of antibiotics suffice. Your prescribing physician can advise you best, but if all symptoms have resolved for at least 48 hours,I wouldn't be surprised if he/she didn't think you'd have to take those 3 pills.

is it safe to take 6 weeks worth of amoxicillin  pills twice a day while pregnant? i think it's a bit much.

Won't hurt baby: The particulars of your case are not mentioned. If the real question is the effect on baby i would say none.If you have another concern i would share it with your treating physician or submit a new question with information on why you are being treated.
