Bad idea!: This combo has a fairly high risk for a very bad problem known as serotonin syndrome. Talk to your Dr. Don't start to take them on your own but if they've been prescribed and you've already started, don't just stop cold turkey. Get to a Dr as soon as possible to help correct this.

Take care: Taking too much effexor/venlafaxine can cause heart complications and if the overdose is severe, death can occur. However, the max dose of Effexor is 375 mg so five 75 mg tabs is the max dose. Do check in with your physician about this and take care to follow directions.

Re-visit: With your doctor to review the reasons you are taking and the appropriate way to step down the dosage.  Keep in mind it may not be effective at the lower dose and you may want to entertain a trial of another without as many side effects.

Weight gain: There’s not a lot that can be done about weight gain  other than either lowering the dose or changing to an alternative med.  Without knowing more about you there’s no way to determine an alternative that would be best for you specifically. Please speak with your prescriber about your concerns regarding this side effect with Effexor (venlafaxine) and determine a course of action that works for you.

Tapering down method: Take one tablet every other day for one week, then one tablet every two days for another week. Then stop the medication. If your doctor agrees with this protocol, and eventually prescribes another medicine for you, take it on the days you have not taken the old one. I hope you consult it with your prescriptioner. Probably not: Effexor (venlafaxine) has some stimulant type effects, similar to adrenalin.  You may want to consider a different agent.

No need to increase.: Effexor (venlafaxine) and Klonopin are synergistic in their therapeutic effects but not in their mechanism of action. Increasing Effexor (venlafaxine) may not help you. For the four days, I 'd reccomend to try alternative ways to help you relax and sleep. First of all avoid alcohol, try long walk after diner, a herbal- caffeine free -tea, like sleepy time, etc,  See relaxation techniques online that you can do once in bed .
