The person is no longer a virgin the moment after he or she begins to have sex for the first time. For many good reasons, teens should wait (a few years) and not have sex while they are young. For adults, looking at the big picture in the grand scheme of life, being a virgin should not and does not matter at all.

Otherwise you could go to Google Images to see the various types of hymens. You can use a mirror or your iPhone to compare your own.
An intact hymen is a sign of virginity, but a hymen can break from sports, gymnastics or horseback riding. Even if your hymen breaks you are still a virgin if you haven't had sex.

Use a mirror: If a woman looks between her labia (that means pulling the labia a little bit apart), the first thing she sees is her hymen area. The question of course, is why is she saying there is a cyst. A primary care doctor can examine and look for the "cyst", to make sure it is not something worrisome. There may be a little spotting or bleeding (sometimes preventable) with first sex.

Hard to say: You provide no detail on why you bled @ 5.An injury in childhood could tear the hymen. If so it may or may not have torn it enough it would not bleed with 1st sex. Your doc could examine and see. It should not matter, some girls are born without a hymen. Its presence does not prove virginity, just lack of vaginal sex.

Sure hope so: If a woman goes in to check her septate hymen, she should expect to have her hymen checked. If that doesn't happen, she's probably at the wrong doctor's office. The way to check a hymen (can be done at home) is just to grab one labia with the right thumb and finger, and grab the other labia with the left thumb and finger, and then pull outwards gently. The holes in the middle should be visible.
