Dosing is adjusted every few days until 1 soft stool per day is occurring. A typical starting dose would be 8.5 grams (1/2 capful) daily.

Constipation tx: Your medicine will both slow, the gut and may cause loss of water from stool, both causing constipation. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) will draw water in the bowel as an osmotic agent. You may also need a push to the system. Ue fresh summertime fruits or dried fruits such as peaches, , apricots, cherries, and prunes which will solve the problem.

NONE: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is too strong to give to your two week old son. Try instead to supplement with a little water 2 ounces twice daily or you can add 1 tsp of dark karo syrup to 2 bottles per day.

Miralax (polyethylene glycol) for 6 month!: Talk to your Pediatrician before using Miralax (polyethylene glycol) for 6 months old baby. There are other ways to help with Constipation, if that is the reason you are thinking of using it.

Med takes longer: Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is a wetting agent not a laxative. Relief from the discomfort of constipation is best done with a washout of the rectal vault & sigmoid colon using an enema or stimulant suppository like ducolax. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) will take about  3 days to work its way through the system if the kid is having bowel movements.It's longer term use over weeks to months may help fix the issue.

Not recommended : Neonates with constipation should not be given medications orally. If true constipation is present (hard balls of infrequent stools), an infant glycerin suppository can be used short term while investigating and treating the root cause.

my 5 year old son does not poop every day, but when he does, it is quite large &he cries.  is he constipated?  how much miralax should  i give?

Constipation: Increasing water intake and increasing fiber intake are good ideas.  You can give 1/2 of the dose of Miralax, but why not try something a little more child friendly?  There are fiber gummies, or my personal favorite, Bush's baked beans.  Half cup a day.
