Many: There are many different classes of antibiotics that you could take if Doxycycline causes a rash.  You should avoid other drugs in this class including tetracycline, Minocycline and tigecycline.  What alternative antibiotic is chosen would depend on what infection or bacteria needed treatment.

Be careful: The time it takes for Doxycycline to leave your body is 18 to 22 hours assuming you have no kidney issues. However, i assume that you made other plans while on the meds, so wait a 5 says to be carelful.

hi i have been taking doxycycline and celexa (citalopram) for the past 2 months daily i just found out that i am pregnant could either of these hurt the baby?

Doxy off limits: Can cause tooth and skeletal development issues. Use of citalopram (Celexa) is pregnancy is cautionary. Ask your OB/Gyn. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

could taking antibiotics like doxycycline, bactrim and macrobid have caused my baby to have a complete agenesis of the corpus callosum? the drugs were prescribed by the doctor  for e-coli and ut infections and taken during the first trimester of pregnancy

Possible: Agenesis of the corpus callosum is associated with abnormal development of the brain between 3rd and 12th week of pregnancy.  Alcohol for example is a known substance associated with this abnormaility.  Antibiotics are a possibility, but I do not believe there has been a defininite link established.  Macrodantin is class b, pretty safe, Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is c and Doxycycline d.

i was told to take doxycycline for my chalymidia, but how do you guys give me meds?? do the doctors on here send a prescription to my pharmacy?

I hope you: do not mean you are going crazy!  Metronidazole frequently gives nausea and a metallic taste in the mouth.  It can cause delerium, fainting, and severe illnesses if you have alcohol with it

i have colitis and i take apriso but i have acne so my dr wants to give me doxycycline is that safe will it make me bleed ?

Should be okay.: if your doctor wants to try doxycycline   for your acne, it may be worth a shot.  It should not make your colitis worse, although you should clear it with your G.I. doctor first and notify the dermatologist that you are taking Apriso for UC before starting it. If you notice any recurrent bleeding or signs of a flare of your colitis, stop the Doxycycline and contact your GI doctor. Good luck.

why did my doctor give me only one 200mg dose of doxycycline after a few tick bites? is only one dose enough?

It depends on what: your doctor was treating.  If he was thinking that you should treat a small superficial skin infection with 1 dose of antibiotics, then the treatment dose is adequate.  If he wanted to treat empirically for Lyme disease or rocky mountain spotted fever, then 1 dose is not adequate.  You should really ask your doctor why he thought 1 dose was enough for your condition.  Thanks for trusting in HT.

Yes: If you are now making an effort to become pregnant, stop Doxycycline now.

Meds and pregnant: Stop the Doxycycline now! minimize use of the vyvance. Start a prenatal vitamin. Get prenatal care right away. Good luck with your pregnancy.
