Trya different pill: A few ideas.  You may want to try a different birth control pill that doesn't have those side effects.  You may also want to try a calorie tracker app like, my fitness pal.  Birth control pills don't cause women to gain weight, however, sometimes women's appetites increase on the pill and they eat more.  Tracking your calories can be a way to determine if taking too many calories.

If you did better: on Depo provera, yes it could help. Many patients find it makes weight gain worse, by making them more insulin resistant/carb senstive. This may be the cause of your weight gain, testing and discussion with your doctor for best plan of treatment, is advised.

Withdrawal : Withdrawal of birth control is highly unlikely to cause weight gain. Without birth control you may be pregnant which can cause an initial, significant weight gain. Other issues are thyroid dysfunction. Sometimes the estrogen in oral contraceptives can cause nausea and now you may be relieved of this nausea.

Losing insurance should not prevent you from obtaining contraception. Wal-mart has very cheap birth control as does planned parenthood and neighborhood health clinics. The clinics can also evaluate for thyroid dysfunction. I would suggest that you check out one near you.

Some people can: Depending on the persona nd the pill if it is u , i would rec an in office tubal sterilization , and if i was going to put you on a pill at your age the only pill i would put u on is loloestrin as it is the only 10mcg pill on the market- so it would be the safest one for u.
