It's not advisable: Instructions for prepping before a colonoscopy suggest CLEAR liquids, which would exclude any form of milk.  The fats in milk, which make it appear creamy, could obscure something along the lining of the bowel if not perfectly prepped. Clear liquids are WATER, fruit juices without pulp (apple, white grape), lemonade, carbonated soda, gelatin, clear broth, tea/coffee without cream. Good luck!

endo/colonoscopy prep instructions say no dairy. does this mean no milk, cheese, and yogurt, or does it include anything that contains dairy as well?

Clear liquids: colonoscopy prep instructions usually require clear liquids along with the actual preparation. Clear liquids are essentially any liquid which you can see through, which precludes any dairy products. Be sure to take all of the preparation, even if the liquid coming out is already clear. good morning, i will be starting my colonoscopy prep tomorrow. can i use a small amount of 2% milk in early morning coffee, then start my clear liquid?

Sure: That amount won't make any difference. But I'm a little concerned that bending this "rule" may lead you to bend a few more. Improper or inadequate prep for a colonscopy is the biggest reason many have to be repeated because the exam was suboptimal/inconclusive. You wouldn't want to repeat it. I would strongly encourage you to follow the prep instructions PRECISELY.  It's one day:)

i  took milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) 6 hours ago to start colonoscopy prep, and it hasn't worked yet. i have not been constipated. what's wrong?

MOM for bowel prep?: Our gastroenterologist do not recommend Milk of Magnesia (MOM) as a bowel prep.  Most have patients use Miralax (polyethylene glycol) (polyethelene glycol) because it is highly effective and more palatable than Go-Lytely, followed by Dulcolax (bisacodyl) tablets. U should have specific instructions from your GI doctor regarding what to take and when for bowel prep.  Follow their instructions and call them if no effect.

i will have a colonoscopy this friday at 10 am.  can i eat chocolate candy i.e. m&m's?

No, not for 24 hours: You need to be on liquid diet for a couple of days before colonoscopy and have nothing by mouth for 12 hours before the procedure.
 You should have received detailed instructions to be followed before the procedure. Please call your doctors office to get hold of these instructions and follow them fully.

i accidentally ate 3 chocolate covered raisins and my colonoscopy is tomorrow, about 19 hours away. should i be concerned?

Npo for Colonoscopy: You should not be concerned you probably have to take the final half of the prep 4 hours prior to the colonoscopy.But in order for the GI doctor to have a good look the colon must be clean otherwise small polyps could be missed. If you are concerned you could drink a Magnesium Citrate and that would help clean it out.

can i eat tofu 2 days before my colonoscopy?

Yes, if...: If a person enjoyed tofu without problems in the past, then she can have tofu the day before her colonoscopy... As long as she drinks the prep drink and clears everything out of her bowels the day prior to her procedure.
