tried to donate blood twice, first 3 months ago and then just yesterday. was denied due to high temp. 100.4 the first time and 100.7 yesterday. i feel fine and not sick, no injuries. hx of migraines and neck pain. is there something wrong with me?

: You may wish to monitor your temperature daily, when you wake up. Your elevated temperature, without being sick could be your higher than usual baseline and it may increase even more in the second half of your menstrual cycle. Keep a detailed record of your temperature and discuss it with your doctor who knows more about your health.

No: Only in a special situation where an anemic person&#x27;s blood is urgently needed would anyone want to take an anemic person&#x27;s blood donation... because it would make the donor even more anemic. Perhaps if an anemic person were the only matching donor remaining in town, and a tranfusion was emergently needed... but that situation should not happen anywhere in modern America.

Yes: Although depending on the medication you take, there may be some exceptions.  Ask your physician or a blood bank regarding your medicaitons.

Stress / procedure: might just be stress from the procedure...lots of pts get scared when giving blood...incl me! If pressure is constantly that high, would see your doc to be evaluated.

Need more info: Thick blood is not a medical diagnosis. You may wish to consult a hematologist for proper evaluation. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests.

HIV INFECTION: Hiv  and  other infections are screened among blood donors much more among drug addicts to prevent transmission of aids , hepatitis, etc.

No: If you mean IV drug use, then the red cross excludes IV drug users since the risk of HIV is higher.
