Many causes: Your pain could represent many things.  Your vas deferens transports sperm from your testicles via your groin.  You may have a hernia if there is a bulge present.  Prostatitis is usually accompanied by fever, pelvic/rectal pain or pain when you urinate.  A burning sensation on your thigh is usually a result of a nerve problem.  I would recommend a physical exam to assess your problem.

Unclear: There is not enough space here to discuss chronic prostatitis. It may be bacterial (5%) or nonbacterial. The nonbacterial form is difficult to treat effectively. Nonbacterial prostatitis may be related to chronic pelvic pain syndromes and to interstitial cystitis.

Not all prostatitis: Is bacterial. Perhaps prostate and seminal vesicle congestion may be irritating?  We call prostatis when we cannot make a more specific diagnosis, and you suffer irritative effects.  Commonly, anti-biotics are used, and anti-inflammatories.  But sex, too much or too little, has no established role. Having sex can elevate the psa test, however.

No .....and Yes: If you are referring to masturbation, then the answer is No.  If you are referring to unprotected ejaculations with partner(s) who have a STD (sexually transmitted disease) then the answer is Yes. STD infections can  result in prostatitis.  Occasionally symptoms that feel like prostatitis (called "prostadynia") can occur without a active infection. A Urologist or Infectious Disease MD can clarify.

Unknown.: Nonbacterial prostatitis is a generic term given to a syndrome of pelvic pain and urinary symptoms that is often very difficult to classify, work up, and treat. Though many common & uncommon germs have been investigated, the causes are still not known. Proposed mechanisms include inflammation, autoimmune reaction, neuropathic pain, trauma, anxiety, & stress.

Sometimes: Prostatitis  can cause prostate g;and enlargement which could partially partially obstructed distal urinary system. Chronic obstruction by either benign prostatic hyperplasia (bhp) can cause chronic urinary obstruction and chronic renal failure.A lot depends on degree of obstruction and duration.

Very doubtful: It is unlikely that sexual abstinence or celibacy (they aren't the same) causes prostatitis. Several aspects of that theory make no sense at all. Also, defining prostatitis isn't easy -- for example, look up "chronic pelvic pain syndrome" and compare with prostatitis. And of course if you're going serious research on this, you need to use proper scientific resources, not just forums like this!

could prostatitis cause hemorrhoids?

Accepted Answer

No: Prostatitis is inflammation of the prostate gland than can or cannot be associated with bacterial infection, depending on the course of the disease. Hemorrhoids are not caused by prostate problems; other causes must be evaluated if hemmorhoids if present.
