can pinworms affect fertility?

No: But cause a lot of bothersome itching and are very contagious if you scratch and do not wash hands and scrub under nails. They come out at night and deposit eggs.  When you scratch and dont have good hygeine the touch something eggs ate deposited. Someone else touches it the puts hands in mouth and the get the pin worms. The cycle continues. There are prescription medications to cure them.

Wash your hands: There are many things that cause anal itching unrelated to pinworms. Food sensitivity, bacterial &amp; fungal infections, piles, and more. If you are getting pinworms repeatedly you must be exposed to a source. You consume the eggs that contaminate your fingers &amp; they travel to your colon where they live. The female migrates out your anus &amp; lays eggs there in a sticky film that triggers itching.

I wouldn't: I don't know if you mean by eating or applying the butter but neither would do much. Local cleaning with antiseptic wipes followed by a 1% hydrocortizone cream will generally end the itching within days.

Medicate/Wash Hands: Pinworm infestation is common in children; is transmitted by ingesting eggs via the fecal-oral route. Thorough hand washing is a must to prevent spread as well as prompt treatment of infestations. Female worms can lay up to 10,000 eggs in 24 hrs on perianal skin and eggs can remain infective 2-3 wks on surfaces. See doctor now for treatment. Wash hands/nails often for 20 sec, rinse thoroughly.

does mebendezanole kill immature pinworms 2 stop the cycle. i am aware it does not kill the eggs. just need some reassurance treatment will work??

Yes and no: I guess, you can look at this from 2 different angles. The "yes" angle is that their hygiene is not as good as that of adults (not universally true...), so they are more prone to contract pinworms than adults would. There is nothing wrong in their immune system, though, that makes them more prone to acquiring it and that's the "no" angle.

No: Many children with pinworm infections have no symptoms and may never be aware of the infection, but parents notice the worms in the diaper or toilet after a bowel movement.  Itching around the anus associated with scratching is a symptom, sometimes associated with restless sleep (itching is often worse at night). Local irritation and dry skin  can also cause discomfort that  responds to scratching.
