why does caffeine slow down my heart rate? if i drink coffee, tea or anything with caffeine my heart slows alot. what would cause this?

Atypical reaction: cannot say in your particular case, but generally, of course it speeds up the heart a little bit. If the change was under 10 beats per minute it is just coincedence.
Assuming the heart rate really did decrease there are still several possibilities. One is there is a reflex slowing of the heart if the blood rpessure increases.  or stimulation of the gut (vaso vagal reaction) or relaxed w. drink

Can be: Caffiene containing beverages can produce rapid heart rate. If in excess it cam also produce tremors. Green tea is more prone for these symptoms.

Caffeine: Obviously stop all caffeine.may be dehydrated. Drink at least 2 quarts of water/day. See internist for evaluation, possible EKG

Anxiety: It is normal for anxiety to get worse when stressed.  Please see your doctor to see what is happening medically. 4-5 hours after drinking coffee(decaf) or iced tea i start feeling jittery, heart rate goes up, feel weak in my legs&arms,and kind of dizzy. i cant figure out is it due to caffeine or due to its diuretic properties?why do symptoms appear 4-5 later?

: If what you describe does that then best is to stop taking that. However decaf tea and coffee have very small amount of caffeine- generally not enough to cause the symptoms you describe- unless you are supersensitive to that. To find  if other reasons causing this pl see your doc

Possible: Coca cola and other sodas have caffeine which raise the heart rate.  Avoid drinking colas, energy drinks, and excessive amounts of coffee.
