can i drink simply lemonade or arizona iced green tea with ginseng and honey the day prior to a colonoscopy? are these acceptable clear liquids? they are not on the list my dr provided?

: Unless you want o do prep again I would follow "exactly" what is on list.  Most do not want to do it again in my experience.

recently diagnosed  with diverticulitis, doctor put me on antibiotics & a clear liquid diet, my stool is now very loose and green. should i be concern?

Green stool : It could be C diff and need a stool culture if continues. Consult with us to help solve this issue.

No way to tell : Unfortunately, dietary supplements are regulated as foods (as opposed to drugs).  As such, they are not required to undergo the same testing (or prove their claims to be true). Also, since no third party testing of their product is required - the ingredients listed don't even have to match what is in the bottle.  Wish I had a better answer ... Good luck!

Fluid balance: When we go to bed, a hormone ADH (vasopressin) rises which decreases urine output.  At the same time, blood flow to the kidneys increases which increases urine output.If you have retained excess fluid during your waking hours, your kidneys will remove it dung sleep.  Excessive salt, intake, diabetes and  heart &amp;  kidney problems will shift the fluid balance further in favor of increased urine output @ night.

Define clear liquids: "clear liquids" are any food that is not solid at room ; body temperature that will allow sunlight to pass through: ice pops, jello, broth without particles, juices without particulates, water, light tea. Avoid red-dyed foods that may leave residue that looks like blood to the colonoscopist. Confirm your selection with the performing doctor--you don't want to have to re-do the test due 2 bad prep.

Plenty of liquids: Colonoscopy is a unique event and remember that the preparation is very important. Follow the directions on your particular bowel preparation and remember to drink plenty of clear liquids.
Role aids are permissible.

Slow gut: Often two day prep used in patients with known or suspect delayed transit such as those on narcotics, with chronic constipation, and s/p  spinal cord injury, or those who previously failed a standard one day prep.

i have been on clear liquid diet all day and started colonoscopy prep 4.5 hours ago. i have drank 2 liters of movi-prep without a bm. what should i do?

Continue prep: Continue the prep as prescribed.  If you have not had good BMs prior to time for the procedure, let the doctor who is going to do the procedure know.  If your colon is not cleared out, the doctor will not be able to see well enough for the colonoscopy to be of any value.  You may need to be prescribed a different bowel prep.

Nothing: A clear liquid diet means you are restricted to clear non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic liquids.

Chicken soup: If made right, chicken soup can be a delicious food on a clear liquid diet. You should be able to see right through the broth. Make it with parsely, dill, turnips, carrots, parsnips and fresh chicken. All the good ingredients will come out in the broth. Add salt to taste. Some people also add garlic.
