More likely irritant: Having a smoker around, anyone wearing perfume or any fragrence or dust exposure in babies environment is much more likely to cause nasal stuffiness than any vaccine. Doing a lifestyle audit, where u eliminate such exposures is imperative when a newborn is around. They don't mouth breathe as easily to bypass the congestion so you really must work to exclude irritants from their environment.

Not from shot: The nasal symptoms would not be from the Gardasil shot.  If it were due to the shot, you would have to have an allergy to the vaccine or component.  In that case, you would have other symptoms besides a runny and stuffy nose.

Stuffy nosr: Babies normally breath through their nose. To relieve stuffness, useabulb syringe to remove excess mucus, use saline nose drops, humidify the air if the room is too dry and try elevating the baby's mattress. Wash your hands before handling baby. If you are very congested wear amask.

Allergies in newborn: Inhalant allergies are not that common at this age but if the baby is constantly being exposed to some allergens e.g. Dusty room, old carpets that have not been cleaned for a while, it is possible.  But given that the baby's temp is little elevated (not fever), it may be a cold. You could use nasal saline spray or drops and to see if helps see your pediatrician.

Not particularly: Nasal mucus will begin to color over a few hours from the normal germs present in the nasal airway.Infants at 6 wks have not developed sinuses that might trap infections. A good washout of the nose with saline followed by suction will help. Removing odors/dust/fragrances that can trigger such drainage also helps.

i have some mucus or postnasal drip in the back of my throat. no cough, no fever,  stuffy nose, but my throats feels irritated. not sore because i eat and  drink just fine. what could be going on? i have a newborn so i don't want to be contagious.
